About the ride and who we are....

The trip is now complete. Total mileage for the 14 day trip was 3400 miles. On this trip we crossed into 7 different states, visited 3 National Parks, 3 National Monuments, and numerous State parks. We departed Las Vegas, NV at 0530 on August 24th, 2009 and returned into Las Vegas, NV at 1605 on September 6th, 2009. We rode thru the states of Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, South Dakota, Montana, and Idaho. Main stopping points of interest were the Black Hills of South Dakota, Custer State Park, Mt Rushmore National Monument, Crazy Horse Memorial, cities of Sturgis, Deadwood, Hill and Custer, SD, as well as Devil's Tower National Monument, Yellowstone National Park, and Grand Teton National Park.

Partipants on the ride were Ron Doig, Tom Donaldson, and Walt "Butkus" Willetts. Initially we had hoped for more and at one point probably had at least 8 riders expressing interest but life happens and it was down to this fearsome threesome.

Ron and Tom met up with Walt in Custer, South Dakota on August 25th, a day earlier than planned. Walt rode with us for 3 days before having to leave us but it was a fun filled couple of days.

We updated fotos and route maps every night except when inside Yellowstone National Park due to lack of any internet capability. We hope all who followed us along our journey enjoyed the site. Please feel free to post comments.

So it's Saturday and my ride is about ready. Bags are packed, bike is fueled to go. Looking at the weather forecast it looks like we might, read that probably, will get wet the first couple of days. I moved west to get away from the rain. Back east we hit rain/storm every year on our rides. We even tried to outrun a hurricane when we rode to the outer banks. The rain from it finally caught us in western North Carolina around Mt. Airy I believe.
